CUSTOMER: Name of character requesting channelling
SPIRIT TO BE CHANNELLED: Name of the spirit
DATE OF CHANNELLING:
NPC or PC: Is the character to be channelled a personal NPC relevant to your backstory, or a player character who has passed on recently? If they are a player character, you'll need to get that player's typed permission. Without their permission, there can still be a channelling, but the channelling will always fail.
GOAL OF CHANNELLING: What is your character hoping to learn from this channelling? What will the spirit reveal? What can you tell me about the character being channelled so I give the right answers/behaviour? Include any links to canon information if it exists, or just write a blurb. You're also free to plurk or aim me during the thread.
GUARANTEED SUCCESS?: Yes or no. if no, the the success of the initial channelling will be based on an 75% probability rate. (That is, a random number out of 10 will be generated. If the number is 7 or below, the initial channelling will be successful.) If the channelling occurs under a state of duress, the probability level lowers to 50%, and under extreme situations lowers to 30%. This is unlikely to occur during a channelling that takes place in the chamber, and is only likely to happen if the channelling is done by force or on the field.
OTHER INFO: Anything else you want me to know-- from payment to humour level, any extra details.

No pokémon can be channelled.
Figures of legend cannot be channelled.
Channellings of deceased Player Characters must be through recent deaths.
Permission must be obtained from the mun of any Player Character that has died. If they are uninterested, the channelling will fail.
Major NPC deaths can only be channelled with mod permission and through a player plot.
Channelling of personal/backstory NPCs is allowed.
During the channelling, Maya's spirit will be completely unconscious. She will not be able to witness what is going on, nor will she have any recollection of what has occurred during the channelling.
If a channelling goes wrong, Maya may be able to sense it and employ a soul-severing technique to force an end to the channelling session. This is to avoid anyone holding on to her body for too long, and its success rate will be based on the plot involved with the channelling.

In a game about solving murder cases and proving your defendants innocent, things can get rather heavy. Maya Fey, sister of Phoenix Wright’s mentor Mia Fey, provides a glimmer of sunshine in situations that could otherwise be intensely frustrating. Maya Fey is a nearly unstoppable force and an incredible sidekick. While sometimes naïve, childish, and clumsy, she can also be incredibly clever. Phoenix and Maya think about things very differently, thus allowing them to see almost every possibility when they work together. It’s a good thing, too; where Phoenix might miss something, Maya is almost always sure to pick it up.
She is a little immature, and much like the rest of the cast, a huge dork. Maya enjoys samurai movies and ‘kid shows’, as well as collecting trading cards from those shows. She loves to investigate and cause minor trouble, and often teases Phoenix with ‘criminal’ ideas. Maya loves things, and that’s important; what Maya likes, Maya is passionate about. Whether it’s food or being a medium, or people who are important to her, Maya is a passionate girl with a fiery spirit and a bit of an attitude to keep up with Phoenix.
Maya also has an absolutely voracious appetite. She often jokes about having four stomachs; one for burgers, one for steaks, one for sweets, and one for all the other things she could eat. She jokes about a lot of things, in fact, and sometimes does so seemingly only to give Phoenix grief. Her curiosity, voracity, and stubborn persistence liken her to a juvenile cat; not quite a baby, but still pushing her nose into everything even if it might burn her paws. Maya certainly isn’t afraid to get burnt, either; she’ll do what she can, even if she regrets it afterward. If anything, she certainly can’t stay down for long-- Maya seems nigh incapable of holding a grudge or staying down for the count. Only when things are weighing down on her after believing she is not able to help Edgeworth, who she has come to see as a friend through Phoenix, does she feel down on herself for quite a while.
This, however, is where Maya Fey becomes most incredible. Maya’s deepest love is for other people and she can consider people friends even only after days of meeting them. She feels genuine joy for their successes and sorrow for their downfalls, and is incredibly empathetic. She is the one who is most enthusiastic about Phoenix’s new position as head of the law office, even if he is replacing the job of Maya’s deceased sister. Maya is the one to risk herself being in contempt of court when Lotta Hart’s testimony isn’t adding up and the Judge and prosecutor Von Karma refuse to listen to Phoenix, and shows no remorse about being sent to the detention center for a second time. It’s Maya who, when Prosecutor Von Karma threatens Phoenix and Maya with an over-charged tazer, jumps in front of Phoenix in attempts to grab the evidence Von Karma is stealing and give Phoenix enough time to run before Von Karma can attack him as well. Maya Fey may be clumsy, curious, and immature, but it’s her strong, golden heart that makes her such a great assistant and eventually, a grand mystic.
Even to the end of the series, Maya's behaviour can easily be misinterpreted as a lack of competence or ability to become the Master of Kurain. This, however, is exactly what her aunt believed and exactly completely incorrect. Maya's behaviour often appears to be immature, but in reality she simply has a different way of dealing with things. She may often seem scatterbrained and make people wonder how she even remembers to brush her teeth at night without a mother or sister to scold her into it, but the reality is, Maya has spent many years without a mother to watch over her and many years with her sister gone to study. She doesn't always act like an adult and she doesn't always do what she is expected to do or what is considered her responsibility, but in the end she will always come through. Though she seems so strange in behaviour, she does her best to stay strong and supportive of those close to her.
In addition to this observation, one should also recognise that Maya has always had significant reasons not to want to become master of Kurain. To do so would be to admit that her mother and sister are both gone forever, and by the end of game three her position as future master is what is getting her targeted so much. It's perfectly reasonable for Maya to want a normal life, so it's no surprise that after the trial for the murderer of her mother, Maya mentions no longer wanting to be associated with the Fey name. However, once again, Maya pulls through. Being sad isn't a sign of a lack of strength, after all; the fact that Maya always pulls herself back up is what stands as the hallmark of her fortitude. Her childish demeanour and sunny outlook do not prevent her from being a competent person or potential leader; in fact, it's Maya's personality that could very well be the starting point for Kurain Village returning to its former glory. Her energy, ease of making connections, and strength will easily guide her through her status as the master of Kurain.
Maya has the ability to channel the dead in canon. She's also noted to be pretty good at crafts and can draw rather well. One of her habits/hobbies is to mimic other people's voices and/or vocal tics or catch phrases.
In Union, Maya's story is a bit of a reflection of her life in Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney. While her family is being included as a part of world building vital to her character, facts can conform and retcon any information should the characters involved (Morgan, Misty, Mia, and Pearl Fey) apply to Brave New World at any time.
The Kurain School in Union (located in the Northwest district called Ninetails Vale), too, is a reflection; a reflection of its state prior to the war. It is a revival honouring the traditions of old as well as the influence of the new, rediscovering old channelling ways and while still giving some veneration to the Great Hero. Kurain channellers of this day have managed to, with the aid of Pokémon in their meditation and study, re-cultivate a means of channelling the recently dead. Though the channellers remain unconscious during the channelling, it's still considered a grand breakthrough among the channellers themselves.
As is the case with most ghost-type involved places, however, the Kurain school has a bit of notoriety in terms of spookiness and scariness. Ghosts aren't the most popular because of their demeanour, and Kurain's reputation isn't aided by a certain incident that resulted in the disappearance of Maya's mother and the tarnishing of many people's belief in the mediums' abilities to actually channel the dead.
This is the life that Maya has been born into-- one of serenity and grace and utmost professionalism. The women are the only ones with the ability to channel, and have the strongest connections with pokémon in their village. In this matriarchal society, it's easy for men to get lost in the mix, and as such, Maya hadn't been exposed to very many males for most of her life as a youth.
Her mother, the master of Kurain, left due to the aformentioned incident Maya prefers not to discuss-- one that could have caused Kurain a bit of shame had she not stayed away. Her sister, too, left; to find answers behind their mother's disappearance, and to give Maya the position of the next master. However, Maya has not been alone; Shi-yon, her punily named duskull who goes by the nickname of 'Shi', as well as other members of her family, have kept her company.
Though she faced (and still faces) some opposition from her aunt, Maya now acts as master of the channelling school. Still, she's just about as childish as always-- and despite her age, refuses to be married. Teacher and master or not, Maya is all about fun. She's perfectly content to wear furisode (a kimono worn only by unmarried women) at her age of 21, and even more content to skip out on channelling classes to cause trouble with her pokémon companions.
Perhaps it wasn't for the best that the new master was born enlightened.
Maya is psychic-ghost type with the ability prankster and her ghastly tendencies have always been apparent. She enjoys playing pranks and at times can seem downright spooky for absolutely no reason. She'll do what's responsible if necessary, but if there's an excusable chance to be silly instead, she'll take it and she always has. In fact, that's part of what used to get her in trouble with her aunt as a child. However, Maya won't let pranks go too far. She absolutely hates bullies, and will call them out as she sees them.
Maya's enlightened status meant that she had a natural gift for channelling-- one that she put off for quite a while. She wanted to focus on the bright side of things as a kid instead of being sad about her mother being gone, and put off training for a while. For the longest time, her aunt and even other channellers thought this meant Maya simply wasn't good at channelling at all, and didn't approve of her behaviour. Rather than let her aunt's berating of her laziness and prankster personality get to her, Maya just became even more of a prankster on top of getting her work done. After all, the best way to shut 'em up is to put up, right? She's good at what she does-- channelling and pranking.
With her added age, Maya's a bit more confident and almost resembles her older sister in some ways-- but she's still a bit childish on the outside. She also tends to have spells where she seems a bit more ghastly than usual. She's got complete clarity through them, and generally thinks they're hilarious. She's much more of a trickster than usual due to the ability prankster, and a bit more of a daredevil. Why have fears when you are associated with fear itself?
Maya is a ghost-psychic dual type Enlightened of the Kindred Soul variety. Her magatama is a ghost-type enhanced object.
In Union, Maya is related to Jinxie Tenma by some matter of cousinry, and to Nozomi Tojou via adoption.
Maya's ability to channel is also a little different in Union: though she still loses control of her body during channelling and will not remember what occurs during possession, she is able to sense the level of safety and can perform the soul-severing technique to expel the spirit if need be.

LAST UPDATE: week 33
PRE-EVOLUTION: Prior to evolving, Maya's only noticeable type-traits were in her eyes (yellowed sclera and seemingly pupil-less red irises) and in her haunting laughter. She wore furisode at the insistence of her aunt.
EVOLUTION ONE: Post evolution, Maya's magatama no longer hangs from string. It floats around her and seems to be a part of her, since she never even tries to take it off. She learned the move shadow sneak and will-o-the-wisps follow her, though she cannot use them to attack (like in the case of the move will-o-wisp). She now wears a purple, short-sleeved, archery-kimono-style top over a white juban and hakama that fade from light pink to black. This gives her more mobility than the furisode, but still allows her to look like a... 'professional'.
